Is a Medical Exam Required?
Yes. A Super Visa applicant must complete an immigration medical examination. The examination is separate from the mandatory private health insurance requirement.
Use an Approved Panel Physician
Only a physician approved by IRCC can complete the immigration medical exam. A family doctor cannot perform it unless they are also listed as a panel physician.
What to Bring
- Passport or accepted identity document.
- Eyeglasses or contact lenses.
- Current medication list and relevant medical reports.
- IRCC medical instructions, if issued.
- Required photographs when the clinic does not use eMedical.
What the Exam May Include
The panel physician follows IRCC instructions and may conduct a medical history, physical examination, laboratory tests, and diagnostic imaging. Age and medical history can affect the tests required.
Existing Medical Conditions
Diabetes, high blood pressure, previous surgery, or another diagnosis does not automatically result in refusal. Applicants must answer truthfully and provide any requested specialist reports or additional tests.
After the Appointment
The clinic submits results to IRCC and gives the applicant proof of completion. IRCC may request further testing. The panel physician does not make the immigration decision.

Book with the correct physician, bring complete records, attend follow-up appointments promptly, and ensure identity details match the application.
